Persuasive Essay

What are persuasive essays?

Persuasive Essays, also called Argumentative Essays, makes use of logic and reasoning to accomplish the superiority of one idea over the other. It is aimed at persuading the reader to accept a certain point of view (as expressed in the essay). For this, the argument must have a strong foundation; firm reasoning along with relevant examples must be given in order to prove that point. It can also be accompanied by expert quotes.

What is the best way to arrange your Persuasive Essay?

In order to make your persuasive essay really interesting, you have to make a systematic division of its body. The systematic division must be made in such a way that without interrupting the natural flow of writing, you go on to prove your point at every step. The body of your essay must be divided into the following parts:

  • Introductory opening: The main purpose of the introduction is to hook the reader’s attention and also for providing background information on what you are going to write. The introductory paragraph must end by expressing your idea (or what you are actually going to prove).
  • Body of the essay: The main body of the essay must be split into numerous paragraphs. In these paragraphs, you must express your main idea in a logical sequence. Each paragraph should focus on a single point, or related points. Each point when exemplified properly with proper and relevant example.
  • Paragraph expressing opposing views: Since you are writing an argumentative essay, make sure to write a paragraph expressing opposing views. This paragraph should come at the end (before the concluding paragraph).
  • Concluding paragraph: State your main idea and support it with relevant points of which you have already spoken in the body of your essay. With pithy comments, try to make the readers hooked to your main idea or perspective even when they have ended with their reading.
Things to remember while writing the Persuasive Essay:

You have to keep in mind some important points while writing a Persuasive essay. They are the following:

  • Identification of the main points: Think before you actually start writing. You have to chalk out the main ideas and elucidate them properly.
  • Identification of your audience: Always think of your audience. Are they unaware? Or will they be hostile to your views? Consider these before writing the Persuasive Essay.
  • Identify the strongest supporting point and the strongest opposing view: If you can identify the strongest supporting point and the strongest opposing point, then you can chalk out your plan of writing (and the points stress is required) very easily.
